David Lee Croswell, a proud veteran of the United States Army for over twenty years, passed away on October 18th peacefully in his home at the age of 51.

Marie was an active member of the Bristol Bay community who was dedicated to bettering her people and teaching her Yup’ik culture. Marie served as President of the BBNCEF Board since 1999 and on the BBNC Board of Directors since 2006.

On March 30 KDLG's Izzy Ross talked with Alaska Sea Grant's Tav Ammu about WAISC, which is taking place in Dillingham on April 5 - 6, as well as the outboard engine repair class the campus is holding this weekend.

WAISC now set to start at 1 p.m.
Weather delayed flights to Dillingham for many presenters at the Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference. But that hasn't stopped the action; the conference will start just a few hours later than planned, at 1 p.m. For more, Izzy Ross caught up with Alaska Sea Grant's Tav Ammu.

Tom J. Hawkins: March 8, 1946 - Feb. 14, 2023
Hawkins devoted his career to planning and managing land use, which included work for Choggiung Village Corporation in Dillingham and 16 years with Bristol Bay Native Corporation, where he retired as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

MMIP Awareness Day: Virtual talking circle to center grassroots efforts
May 5 is the national day of awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons. A virtual talking circle at noon today will center on how Native women have worked to address and end the epidemic.

It's still snowing, but Bristol Bay is mostly sea ice-free
Most of the sea ice is gone from Bristol Bay, according to the National Weather Service. That means their bi-weekly sea ice updates have come to an end. For more, KDLG caught up with Kayla Tinker, a sea ice meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Anchorage.
