Bristol Bay Fisheries Report July 15, 2016

Robyn Chaney

Ugashik put away 400,000 fish yesterday, and one tender says it was the best day yet in that district. Naknek-Kvichak still going. Plus, a genetics guy talks about where the fish are headed after they swim past Port Moller.

The total run to Bristol Bay through Thursday – 34 million fish! That’s about 10 million away from the pre-season forecast. Ugashik brought in 401,000 – contributing to the daily total of 1.8 million. The bay-wide harvest so far this season is 25 million. Escapement on Thursday, for the rivers counting, was 412,000 – bringing the season total to 8.7 million.

Tonight we hear from a tender and a few drifters, and talk to Tyler Dann at Fish and Game’s genetics lab. Plus, former KDLG General Manager Rob Carpenter reminds: please pledge!

In tonight’s show, Fish and Game’s Tyler Dann unravels this graphic for us.
