17-A Winter Moose Hunt Extended

Mike Mason

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has extended a winter moose hunt in the Bristol Bay region. The hunt in game management unit 17-A was scheduled to close Friday but it’s now been extended through February 14th. The recent wet and warm weather has resulted in very difficult traveling conditions forcing many area residents to hold off on hunting. So far only 4 cow moose have been taken in the hunt, which has a harvest quota of 10 cow moose. Once the harvest quota is achieved the Department of Fish and Game will close the hunt early via emergency order. If not, the hunt will now end on February 14th. Additional information about the hunt is available from the ADF&G office in Dillingham.
