The person who tested positive was a close contact of a case reported September 9. The individual was not showing symptoms and had been in quarantine for 12 days when they tested positive.

The two individuals initially tested negative last week as part of contact tracing. Both are symptomatic, and are now in isolation.

The active case count in the borough is currently at nine, but Camai clinic Director Mary Swain says that three people will be marked as recovered today, which will drop that total down to six.

The Camai Community Health Center says they believe there is community spread in the borough because three of the six cases reported since Friday were not related to travel.

The two people in the Bristol Bay Borough tested negative in Seattle before chartering to Naknek, where they were in quarantine, while the newest case in the Lake and Peninsula Borough was a contact from an earlier case, according to the Camai Health Center.

An evangelical Christian organization delivered a field hospital to the Bristol Bay Borough Monday. It’s a measure the state requested in case of an outbreak of COVID-19 in the community ahead of the fishing season.

Bristol Bay's health corporation and the Camai clinic in Naknek are continuing to prepare for the upcoming fishing season, when the region expects thousands of fishermen and workers from around the country to come to the region.
