One person is dead in Dillingham after a car accident this weekend.

On Saturday morning around 9 a.m., Dillingham police said they received a report that a vehicle had crashed at the intersection of Wood River and Kanakanak roads.

Police said people at the scene and surveillance cameras from a nearby building show that the vehicle was headed away from town on Kanakanak Road when it went off the road, struck a culvert, and flipped several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police declined to identify the driver, who’s next of kin has been notified.

The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
