Bristol Bay Fisheries Report: June 17, 2019

Isabelle Ross/KDLG

Welcome back to another season of the Bristol Bay Fisheries Report! Tune in to AM 670 for the live show at 6 p.m. weeknights, with replays at 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

At the start of the 2019 commercial salmon fishery, signs are pointing to a return to normal after two record-breaking summers. But while activity is a bit slow, escapement counts in the Nushagak District are starting to climb, and Egegik has already released harvest numbers. On the first report of the season, we talk to west side area management Biologist Tim Sands and Paul Salamone, the management biologist for Egegik and Ugashik . We also go to this year’s blessing of the fleet ceremony at the Dillingham boat harbor.
