BBAHC limits in-person appointments as COVID-19 cases rise

While some appointments will still be in-person, the health corporation says many will be conducted over the phone until further notice.

The Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation says it’s modifying its operations due to widespread community transmission of COVID-19 in the region. It announced the shift in a news release on Friday.

While some appointments will still be in-person, it says many will be conducted over the phone until further notice.

The changes affect the health corporation’s outpatient clinic, village clinics and services in the dental, eye, lab and audiology departments.

Pre-operation, prenatal and specialty clinic appointments will still be in person. But most other appointments will be conducted over the phone, and the health care provider can schedule a follow-up in-person visit.

People who do have in-person appointments must have a negative COVID-19 test to enter the facility.

In the past week, 38 people in the Dillingham area have tested positive for COVID-19. Eleven of those cases are in the City of Dillingham.
