NRA Endorses Governor Parnell

Governor Parnell

Alaska Governor Sean Parnell picked up a major endorsement Tuesday in his quest for another term. The National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund issued a statement noting that Governor Parnell has an A+ rating, which is the highest possible rating. The NRA stresses that an A+ rating is reserved for elected officials with an excellent public record on critical NRA issues. Chris Cox is the Chairman of the NRA’s Political Victory Fund. He’s quoted as saying that Governor Parnell has made it a top priority to protect and promote the 2nd Amendment. Cox also stressed that Governor Parnell signed legislation expanding the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves in any place they have a legal right to be. Cox was referring to the “Stand Your Ground” legislation that Parnell signed into law in 2013. In addition, the NRA cites Governor Parnell’s rejection of expanded gun licensing and registration schemes as a reason for Tuesday’s endorsement. The NRA has a huge amount of political clout and the group’s endorsement is a highly sought after prize by many political candidates. At the end of Tuesday’s written statement the NRA called on NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Alaska to vote for Governor Parnell in the November General Election.
