The rallies are intended to bring attention to the "epidemic" of domestic violence in Alaska, and show support for victims and survivors.
Since 2009, Alaska Governor Sean Parnell has pledged to take every step necessary to stop the epidemic of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse in Alaska. The Governor and those sponsoring this week's events hope to break the silence that too often surrounds situations of violence and to send a strong message of support to victims and survivors.
