Health aides will talk to patients on the phone to determine if an in-person visit is necessary. People who have in-person appointments must get tested for COVID-19, and health aides will wear full personal protective equipment when seeing patients.
The Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation says its village health clinics have new safety protocols in place. It announced the changes in a news release Friday.
Health aides will initially talk to patients over the phone to determine how urgent their needs are and if they require an in-person visit.
In-person appointments will be held in the clinic. Health aides will meet the patient outside and that person will be tested for COVID-19. In a follow up interview, the health corporation said the clinics that have health aides will use rapid tests.
Health aides will wear full personal protective equipment when responding to emergencies and for scheduled in-person appointments.
