Election Day is November 3! There are three main ways to vote in Bristol Bay: absentee by-mail, absentee in-person, and in person on Election Day.
Here are the upcoming deadlines, as well as details on how to vote in person and by-mail in communities around Bristol Bay.
Absentee voting by mail
You will get an absentee ballot either by mail or electronically. Once you receive it, fill it out. Then sign it and provide personal identifying information -- your voter number, driver’s license number, birth date or part of your Social Security Number.
Absentee voters don’t need a witness, as a result of a state supreme court ruling earlier in October. But you stillneed to sign the envelope and provide the personal identifier. Under state law, your vote won’t count if you don’t do that, and the state doesn’t have to notify voters that their ballot was rejected until late January.
If you're mailing in your ballot, you can ensure that it is valid by asking the post office clerk to postmark it when you go to the post office to send it off.
Absentee voting in person
Absentee in-person voting is underway Oct. 19 through Monday, Nov. 2. This means that you can cast your ballot at your local polling place Monday through Friday, now through Nov. 2. Voting times and safety regulations vary by community, so check below to see if, when and how you can vote in-person before Nov. 3.
Voting on Election Day
Polls are open Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m – 8 p.m. Check below to see if your community has in-person voting, as well as the safety precautions in place.
If you are in quarantine and can’t go to the polls…
You can still request an online delivery ballot until 5:00 p.m. Nov. 2. You will need to have access to a computer and a printer, and you can return the ballot by mail or by fax. If you are physically unable to go to the polls on or before Election Day, you can also vote by Personal Representative. You may send your representative to your local polling place to obtain your ballot; bring the ballot back for you to vote; and return the voted ballot to the polling place before the polls close at 8 p.m. Read about the required protocols here.

Dillingham Census Area
Dillingham - in-person absentee and Election Day voting
Dillingham City Hall
Absentee voting:
Walk-in absentee voting at City Hall from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Come in the back door, which will be unlocked. For other times, call 907-842-5212 to set up an appointment from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Election Day polling hours: 7 a.m – 8 p.m.
Campaigning is not allowed within 200 feet of any entrance to a polling place during hours the polls are open. That includes discussions about candidates or issues appearing on the ballot and displaying items such as hats, shirts and signs.
Bring your voter ID, state ID or Alaska drivers license.
Social distancing measures will be in place, so voters should come to City Hall alone if possible, allow for additional time to vote, and pay attention to the social distancing markers on the floor. Booths will get sanitized and pens will be provided to each person. Hand sanitizer will be available, and voters should wear a mask.
Aleknagik - in-person absentee and Election Day voting
Native Village of Aleknagik Building
Absentee voting hours: Monday - Friday during normal business hours.
Election Day polling hours: 7 a.m – 8 p.m.
Clark's Point – by-mail absentee voting
Residents of Clark’s Point can vote by-mail this election. The council has sent out absentee ballot applications to residents, and it is coordinating with the lieutenant governor to get information out about how to vote. There is no in-person voting because the Village Council Building is closed and no polling workers signed up.
Ballot applications must be received by the Division of Elections by Oct. 24. People can also apply online.
Once people receive their ballots, they must ensure they are postmarked by Nov. 3.
