Reports of Child Sex Abuse Down, says DPD

Despite two arrests last week, the police department says reports of sexual abuse of a minor have fallen each of the last four years.

DILLINGHAM:  Last week, two Dillingham men were arrested on charges that each had sexually abused a minor. The police department says that, despite the recent arrests, the number of child sex abuse reports the department investigates is actually on a downward trend.

Dillingham Police Chief Dan Pasquariello attributes this drop in reported abuse in part to the cooperative efforts of a multi-agency team working to fight child sex abuse in the community. Chief Pasquariello spoke with us more about this earlier this week. KDLG’s Dave Bendinger reports:
