Among the metrics the city will take into account in its decision are the 75% vaccination rate for Dillingham’s eligible population and the community's low case count in recent months.
The City of Dillingham will reconsider its travel restrictions and mask requirements in public areas this week.
Interim City Manager Chris Hladick said he needs to base changes to the current emergency order on measurable factors, like the city’s vaccination rate.
“The authorizing ordinance requires that metrics are developed for decision-making,” he said. “I published those metrics on the city’s website and they’re out there for public consumption.”
Hladick pointed out that 75% of Dillingham’s eligible population is vaccinated, and that there have been very few cases in the past four months.
Hladick said the city plans to make official changes by the end of this week.
“It’ll just be looking at changing the requirements to suggestions like masks will no longer be required etc,” he said.
The city will likely no longer require travel forms, either, Hladick said. The city has posted the metrics it considers regarding COVID-19 restrictions to its website.
