Congressional Candidate Forrest Dunbar Picks Up Several Endorsements

Forrest Dunbar campaign

The race to decide who will be the next Congressman for Alaska is heating up as a Democrat in the race is picking up several impressive endorsements. Forrest Dunbar is an attorney from Anchorage with degrees from Yale and Harvard. He’s also a former Peace Corp volunteer and Congressional staffer. On Monday Dunbar picked up the endorsement of former State Representative Bettye Davis from Anchorage. Davis was the first African-American elected to the State House. She currently serves on the Anchorage School Board. In a prepared statement Davis says Forrest Dunbar is a leader who listens, and has not been captured by special interests. Dunbar responded by saying he will strive to represent all Alaskans as diligently and thoughtfully as Bettye Davis represented her constituents during her long career. Dunbar has also received endorsements from several members of the Anchorage Assembly including Elvi Gray-Jackson, Peter Peterson, Tim Steele and Assembly Chair Patrick Flynn. Earlier this month Dunbar was also endorsed by former State Representative Ethan Berkowitz who ran unsuccessfully against Don Young in 2008. Berkowitz observed that Alaskans can count on Dunbar to do the job right and do it well. Dunbar volunteered on Berkowitz’s 2008 campaign for Congress. Dunbar says that Alaska would have much more effective representation in Congress if Berkowitz had won the 2008 election. Dunbar officially kicked off his campaign in Cordova in mid-March. He’s 29-years old and is a first Lieutenant in the Alaska National Guard.
