Kevin Sweeney Returns to Senator Murkowski's Staff

There has been a shakeup within the staff of Senator Lisa Murkowski. State Director Miles Baker is leaving the staff to become the Director of Government Relations and External Affairs for the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation. The State Director position will be filled by Kevin Sweeney. Baker became Senator Murkowski’s State Director last October after serving as the Senator’s finance and economic policy advisor. Kevin Sweeney first joined Senator Murkowski’s staff in 2005. He was a Legislative Assistant, Press Secretary and eventually the State Director. Sweeney was the Campaign Manager for Senator Murkowski’s reelection campaign in 2010 that featured a historic successful write-in-effort. Before joining Senator Murkowski’s staff Sweeney worked for the Alaska Federation of Natives, the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation and the Alaska Department of Education. Sweeney is slated to take over as Murkowski’s State Director in November.
