Senator Murkowski Calls for a Solution to the VA Backlog for Disability Claims

On Monday a group of 66 U.S. Senators sent a letter to President Barak Obama urging him to address a large backlog in disability claims being considered by the Veterans Administration. Among the Senators is Lisa Murkowski from Alaska. Murkowski claims that veterans wait on average 467-days to get their benefits in Alaska. That's well above the average wait of 300-days in the lower 48 states. The Senators claim that the number of pending VA disability claims has grown by over 2-thousand percent despite a 40-percent increase in the budget for the Veterans Administration.
