Dillingham DMV reopens

KDLG:  The city of Dillingham has hired a new DMV clerk, and a new public works director.

Gail Norden retired from the job in May, after nearly 28 years of service. Gary Pullon, who was a corrections officer in the jail down the hall from the DMV, has been trained in the new duties and assumed the role this week.

It's the busiest time of the year, and customers waited for long periods in long lines for service this week. "Glaciers move faster, the waits are interminable!" one person said by email to KDLG, not complaining about the staff but rather the perceived backlog and slow process.

The city has also hired a new public works director. Ken Morton takes over for Francisco Garcia, who left the post this spring. According to the city, Morton has 26 years of experience working for the State Department of Transportation, including in leadership roles on numerous road projects, and holds a bachelors and masters degree in civil engineering.
