Total Allowable Catch Limits Set for Groundfish in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska

The North Pacific Fishery Management Council has adopted the total allowable catch limits for groundfish in the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska. The Pollock TAC (tack) for the eastern Bering Sea next year will be 1.267-million metric tons while the Pacific cod TAC for the Bering Sea will be over 253.8-thousand metric tons. The TAC for yellowfin sole in the Bering Sea is down just over 7-percent to 184-thousand metric tons and the TAC for Pacific Ocean perch is down 5.6-percent to 33.1-thousand tons. The TAC for Atka mackerel has been set at 32.3-thousand tons, while the sablefish TAC in the Bering Sea is down over 15-percent to 3.1-thousand tons. In the Gulf of Alaska, the TAC for Pollock is up 44-percent to 174.6-thousand tons. The Pacific cod TAC in the Gulf of Alaska is up 6.8-percent to 64.7-thousand tons, while the Pacific Ocean perch TAC in the Gulf is up over 17-percent to 19.3-thousand tons. The TAC for sablefish in the Gulf of Alaska is down over 15-percent to 10.5-thousand tons.
