Dept. of Corrections

Vaughn Clark, 40, was medevaced to Anchorage after a fight between inmates at the state's jail in Kenai.

This is a developing story.

KDLG: A fight between inmates at the Wildwood Correctional Facility in Kenai has left a Dillingham man hospitalized in Anchorage. KDLG News has learned that Vaughn Clark, who was sentenced last December to four years in jail on drug dealing charges, was one of two involved and was medevaced with serious injuries Tuesday night.

Authorities released few details Wednesday morning. Sherrie Daigle is a spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, and offered a brief statement by phone.

"There was an assault that occurred at Wildwood Correctional Center yesterday," she said Wednesday morning. "It involved two inmates. We are not releasing any names at this time, because the incident is still under investigation. The Alaska State Troopers have responded and they are investigating the incident."

Daigle confirmed that one inmate was medevaced to Anchorage, and that as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday was still alive. Anchorage Regional Hospital said patients brought in by the Dept. of Corrections are considered confidential.

Friends and family offered an outpouring of support and prayers for Vaughn Clark over Facebook, beginning Tuesday night.
