6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes the Anchorage Area

A sizable earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 shook buildings in Anchorage Thursday morning. The quake was centered about 80-miles northwest of Anchorage at a depth of 61-miles. It struck at 9:51 Thursday morning. The location of the quake was inland so there are no watches, warnings or advisories for a tsunami. So far there are no reports of significant damage.
