GCI and Alaska Communication Combine Infrastructure in New Network

GCI and Alaska Communications are combining their wireless infrastructure into a single statewide wireless network, which will cover more of the state than any other network.  The companies will remain separate with their own customer bases, and existing plans will stay the same.  The deal comes as competitors like Verizon expand their Alaska presence. The agreement includes plans to expand 3G and 4G data services to rural Alaska in the next two years.  KDLG’s Ben Matheson explains.
