The season harvest to the Nushagak District has topped a million sockeye!
The Nushagak District was the only one with nets in the water Sunday. The fleet brought in 475,000 fish. Total Nushagak Harvest so far is 1.2 million.
On tonight's show, Dr. Curry Cunningham with the University of Washington's Fisheries Research Institute helps put numbers we are seeing this season -- catch, escapement and Port Moller numbers -- in context. He says that the run on both the east and west sides of Bristol Bay is shaping up roughly as predicted.
Also, Maggie Bursch writes the rythms of life during the fishing season into her poetry and shares a few.
