It was just four years ago that the City of Dillingham auctioned off the property known as Gladden’s Apartments. The city claimed Dave Gladden, the previous owner, had failed to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, mostly sales tax from the rental of his properties. Gladden alleges the city has no legal right to levy the sales tax. Now the city has taken ownership of all of the properties owned by Jim Bingman, including his numerous apartment buildings, for similarly failing to pay years’ worth of taxes. Dillingham’s Mayor Alice Ruby joins me now:

How does the public feel about the matter, and what do folks think should be done with the harbor property the city intends to keep? We sent KDLG's Matt Martin around town to find out.
