Kids take a close look at the aquatic insects at the bottom of the Bristol Bay food chain.

While Bristol Bay fishermen are out hauling in salmon to feed the industry, we sometimes forget to reflect on how salmon feeds the land and ecosystems of the region.

A group of Nondalton kids learned about the bottom of the fish food chain at Quk Taz'Un culture camp last week. UAF educator Kay Shoemaker had them catching aquatic invertebrates in a cold, clear slough on the north shore of Lake Clark. KDLG's Hannah Colton was there and filed this audio postcard.
