Recent cool and rainy weather prompts lifting of burn ban in the Southwest part of the state.
KDLG: As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, Alaska’s Division of Forestry officially canceled the all-encompassing burn ban on state, municipal, and private lands in Southwest Alaska.
All state-imposed burn bans are being lifted due to the recent rains and cooler weather. Forestry added that open burning is now being regulated on a day-to-day, area-by-area basis.
Municipalities and other landholders like parks and preserves can keep local bans in place, though most have now lifted those as well.
