Dillingham Elementary Students Recognized For Reading Achievements

Book by book, more than dozen 1st-5th graders have made the "Million Word Club" this year.

Students at Dillingham Elementary have been reading … and reading … and reading. Thirteen students were recognized at the last school board meeting for having read at least a million words' worth of books already this year; several more are a few books away from hitting that mark.

KDLG’s Dave Bendinger stopped by the school last week to talk the students and their teachers to find out what the excitement is all about.

A ten question test taken by computer gauges a student's comprehension of the material. If they pass, the computer records the book as "read", and tallies the word count.
