Each year, a competitive national program selects two high school students from each state to meet with national leaders, like the president and Supreme Court justices. This year, one of the students chosen was a Dillingham senior.

At the Republican US Senate debate on Sunday, former Attorney General Dan Sullivan, Lt. Governor Mead Treadwell and tea party favorite Joe Miller spoke on many topics.  However, one moment was particularly heated when Miller presented the other two with a letter.

Sullivan Proposes Pact on Third-Party Ads

US Senate Candidate Dan Sullivan has introduced a two-way agreement to limit third party ads in his race.  KDLG’s Chase Cavanaugh has more information.

The U.S. Senate is considering legislation to allow foreign students to once again work in the seafood processing industry. The state department removed food manufacturing from the J1 program last year and put new restrictions on working hours.   The legislation puts fish processing back into the program and charges a fee for each foreign worker. It was attached to a border security amendment accepted Monday that’s part of the larger immigration overhaul bill.
