Evelynn Trefon of Newhalen is challenging incumbent Randolph Alvarez of Igiugig for seat A on the borough's assembly. Ballots must be postmarked by October 6, and no late ballots will be accepted. 

Bristol Bay Borough

David Lax is running against Randolph Zimin to fill the borough's mayoral seat. Kendra Gottschalk is challenging assembly incumbent Russell Phelps for the open assembly seat.

Saturday is the last day to apply to vote by-mail in Dillingham's local election. In the Bristol Bay Borough, people who want to vote by mail should send in their application immediately.

Three candidates are running for school board this year with two seats open, one unopposed. The candidates are focused on supporting education with COVID-19, growing skill-based classes and future policy development.

There are several competitive races heading into the October 6 election, including for borough mayor. David Lax and Randy Zimin are both vying to succeed the current mayor, Dan O'Hara, who is not running for re-election.

The Dillingham City Council has one seat up for grabs, and the School Board has two. All seats are three year terms. The municipal election is October 6.

Initial returns from election night showed a big turnout among conservative voters, which meant challengers threatened several incumbents in the state legislature. But that was later offset by a bigger show of moderates in absentee votes.
