If no one runs for Kim Williams' seat, the school board will begin soliciting for a new school board member.
The Dillingham School Board has two open seats and just one candidate for October’s election.
Danny Frazier is Superintendent of the Dillingham City School District:
"To the best of my knowledge, there are two seats open," said Frazier. "Patty Luckhurst is re-running for her seat, and she's running unopposed. Kim Williams is not going to run for her seat."
Kim Williams told KDLG News she needs a break after 12 years on the school board. Williams will be focusing on her upcoming bid for the Bristol Bay Native Corporation board of directors.
Frazier says so far, no one has signed up to run for Williams’ seat.
"In the case that nobody runs for that seat, the school board would solicit somebody, interview whoever we could, and school board would appoint someone," explained Frazier.
Voters head to the polls October 6th; the election also includes Dillingham's mayoral race.
