Manokotak Man Faces Charges for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Minor

A 36 year old Manokotak man is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15 year old girl.  At 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, troopers received a report that Robert Geerhart Junior had become highly intoxicated after drinking R&R whisky.

Around 3 or 4 a.m. he allegedly left his house and went to a tent in the yard where 7 girls, including his 5 daughters, were camping.  Troopers say he began having sex with the victim, one of his daughters’ friends.

One of the other girls woke up, saw the assault taking place, and ran from the tent to find help.  Geerhart Junior then left the tent and went back into his house.

According to the complaint, two VPSOs had attempted to get reach Geerhart, who was in a skiff on the Weary river and would not come ashore.  He allegedly had a scoped rifle in the bow.  He eventually came ashore and was taken into custody Wednesday. He was in Dillingham court for his first felony first appearance Thursday. A pre-arraignment hearing is scheduled for next Friday (June 21).
