Lake and Pen election results announced

A slate of mostly incumbents was re-elected in the Lake and Peninsula Borough.

The Lake and Peninsula Borough canvassing committee met Oct. 19 to count the ballots and review some.

Election results are unofficial until certified by the borough assembly. In the borough’s only contested race, Harry Ricci of Kokhanok was re-elected to the school board with 172 votes, coming in ahead of Iliamna’s Chasity Anelon, who had 106 votes. Port Heiden’s Gerda Kosbruk was also re-elected to the school board with 259 votes.

Mayor Glen Alsworth Sr. was re-elected for another term, with 247 votes.

For the borough assembly, a handful of incumbents were re-elected. Igiugig’s Christina Salmon won a seat with 257 votes, Myra Olsen of Egegik won hers with 250 votes and Scott Anderson, of Port Heiden, won with 243. All ran unopposed.

The borough is also looking for a new member for its planning commission, to replace Terry Mann who resigned. Nominations or letters of interest are due by Nov. 6. The opening is for a seat from District 1, which includes Igiugig, Iliamna, Kokhanok, Newhalen, Nondalton, Pedro Bay, Pope Vannoy, and Port Alsworth. The Lake and Peninsula Borough canvassing committee met Oct. 19 to count the ballots and review some.
