The “A-Team” formed a committee this year to carry out the first-ever substance abuse summit for the Aleutian region. The "A-Team" consists of the Aleutians East Borough, the AEB School District, Aleutian Tribes, Aleut Corporation and Eastern Tribes and Aleutian Pribilof Island Community Development Association and the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association. The summit will be held in Anchorage and is scheduled for September 10th through the 12th. It will focus on a number of strategies to combat substance abuse and the negative impacts it has on local communities in the region. The summit organizers are calling the initiative Reclaim Alaska.
