Felony Importation Charge for Manokotak Woman

Twyla Gloko, 26, was arrested Monday after boarding a flight to Manokotak with a large amount of alcohol in her bags, authorities say.

DILLINGHAM:  Twyla Gloko, 26, of Manokotak, was arrested Monday in Dillingham and is facing a felony importation charge.

Authorities allege Gloko had nine "fifths" and one pint-sized bottle of R&R whiskey, a liter of SKYY vodka, and an 18-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in bags she had loaded onto a plane bound for the dry village of Manokotak.

The alcohol seized is estimated to be worth more than $2,000 if sold in the community.

In court Tuesday, the prosecutor said that Gloko has two prior importation convictions, meaning the seizure Monday becomes a felony charge.

Judge Patricia Douglass granted the prosecutor's request that Gloko be held on $5,000 cash bail.
