Cell phone game leads to rollover accident on Lake Road

Avery Lill / KDLG

Driver and two children appeared to be ok after the single vehicle accident Thursday night. Police say driver, a 20 year old woman, had "momentarily helped" children playing a game on their cell phone before driving the truck off the road.

A Toyota truck southbound on Lake Road went off the paved surface and rolled over Thursday night, just before 7:00 p.m. The driver and two children were buckled in and not seriously injured, according to police, who said all three went to the hospital as a precaution.

Police say the 20-year-old woman had "momentarily helped" the children on a cell phone game they were playing, distracting her as she approached the intersection with Kanakanak Road.

"The road curved," police recall her saying after the accident.

The truck went off the road and nearly down the hill at the Ekuk property.

The driver was issued a citation for use of a screen device while driving.
