Bristol Bay Fisheries Report July 14, 2016

Hannah Colton | KDLG

Another two million on the books yesterday, and Area Management Biologist Travis Elison speculates on how long catches’ll stay at that level. And, we check in with the fleet on who’s staying and going and why.

Our 2016 membership drive is underway! KDLG needs your financial pledge to keep the BBFR and the rest of our programming on the air. We're proud of the work we do as the only news team in Bristol Bay, and this week is your chance to show your support. Click the "Donate" tab, or call us at 907-842-5281.

Wednesday, another 2 million harvest on the books, including a million out of the Naknek-Kvichak, bumping the season total catch up to 23 million. Escapement for the rivers counting Wednesday 613,000 – season total 8.3 million. Total run to Bristol Bay – 32 million sockeye.

Tonight, Naknek-Kvichak Manager Travis Elison fills us in on what’s to come in his district, and we check in with some of you about the fishing, the weather and what the month will bring. Plus, numbers, some other fish news (test fishing planned for Bristol Bay Red King Crab), and a little sports update for some levity.

Reach out to us with feedback, ideas, letters from home to your friends and family in the Bay!
