Three of the people who tested positive were in the City of Dillingham and seven were in other communities. Since mid-July, 38 people in the area have tested positive, and recent cases prompted lockdowns in New Stuyahok and Manokotak.

Ten COVID-19 cases were reported in the Dillingham area early this week, according to the state dashboard. Three of the people who tested positive were in the City of Dillingham and seven were in other communities.

Since mid-July, 38 people in the Dillingham area have tested positive for the disease (37 of those were residents), and recent cases prompted lockdowns in New Stuyahok and Manokotak.

New Stuyahok locked down on Tuesday, after two people tested positive. According to the Tribe, one of those people was vaccinated and one was not. The Manokotak Village Council passed severalCOVID-19 mandates on Monday after two people tested positive for the disease within the last week.

Mayor Melvin Andrew said that Manokotak had a low vaccination rate, according to the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation, and encouraged everyone to get vaccinated. BBAHC has so far declined to provide vaccination rates for specific communities, citing privacy considerations.

In the combined Bristol Bay and Lake and Peninsula boroughs, eight cases have been reported since July 18.

The Dillingham area’s vaccination rate for people 12 and older is at 61%, according to the state. The rate for the Bristol Bay and Lake and Pen boroughs is 91%.

The Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation said in a news release that it continues to travel to villages to provide testing and vaccinations. It currently offers the Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen vaccines. To schedule a vaccine with the health corporation, call 907-842-9591.

Testing and vaccinations are also available in Dillingham at the Capstone Clinic, located downtown at the old Tribal building by the library. Capstone also offers testing at Freshwater Adventures by the airport, open 12 - 6 p.m., seven days a week.
