Senate Resources Approves the Oil Tax Bill

There has been some movement in the Alaska Senate related to efforts to change the oil tax structure in Alaska.

Studies by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Government Accounting Office show increasing numbers of Alaskans will be affected by floods and erosion in coming years due to rising waters and extreme weather events.

SWAMC Members Approve Several Resolutions

The members of the Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference approved several resolutions during their annual meeting last week in Anchorage.

The State Affairs Committees in both the Alaska House and Senate met jointly on Tuesday to hear testimony and discuss the tension that sometimes exists between the Federal Government and the State of Alaska.      KDLG's Mike Mason listened in and filed this report.

Reality show seeks Rural Alaskan women

An Anchorage-based casting company is looking for young Alaskan women to participate in a Florida reality show; specifically single women between 21 and 35 to travel to Miami to possibly find romance there. The show is for a major national television network. The shooting would last for 5 weeks and would be an all expense paid trip.
