Child dies in Koliganek, AST reports

Troopers received a call reporting the death of a five-year-old child in the village on April 16.

Alaska State Troopers report that a five-year-old child died last week in Koliganek. Troopers received a call about the death on Thursday afternoon and flew to the community to investigate the report.

"It appears that the child fell into a creek while playing and was not able to be revived despite life saving measures taken after the child was pulled from the water," said Communications Director Megan Peters in an email.

No foul play is suspected, and next of kin has been notified.
