Senate Education Committee Advances the Governor's Education Bill

Governor Parnell’s omnibus education reform bill has cleared the Senate Education Committee and now heads to the Senate Finance Committee. The Governor issued a statement Friday afternoon praising the Senate Education Committee for the work they did on the bill. The only Democrat on the Committee tried unsuccessfully to amend the bill to increase the Base Student Allocation by $404-dollars in Fiscal Year 2015. Berta Gardner’s amendment also sought to tie future increases in the BSA to the inflation rate. In the end the amendment failed on a 4-1 vote.
