NPS Extends Lake Clark Land Protection Plan Comments

The National Park Service is extending the public comment period for draft land protection plans for Lake Clark National Park as well as Gates of the Arctic National Park. The plans are now open for comments through August 12th.

The 30 page plan catalogues hundreds of sites that could be acquired to enhance the park’s mission. The top priority sites are dozens of small tracts clustered along the shore of Lake Clark. Most are quite small, but they collectively they cover a substantial portion of the shoreline. The park service says that right now, there is no money set aside for buying land.

You can go to park planning.gov to submit comments.
