New School of Natural Resources and Extension Created at UAF

The University of Alaska Board of Regents has created a new school within the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The School of Natural Resources and Extension merges the Cooperative Extension Service and the UAF School of Natural Resources. The new school is touted as a way to strengthen the research, teaching and outreach missions of both units. The Extension Service has offices spread out across the state including offices in Nome, Fairbanks, Bethel, and Sitka. The Extension Service also has a tribal extension program administered through the Bristol Bay Native Corporation and the Tanana Chiefs Conference. In a prepared statement, the University claimed there will be no noticeable change in service due to the merger of the 2 entities into the new School of Natural Resources and Extension.
