Levelock stabbing under investigation as a homicide

Alaska State troopers responded Friday to a stabbing in Levelock.

Friday night Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to a reported stabbing in Levelock. They found Ellis Lee Kaloke, age 37 of Eagle river, dead. Their investigation discovered a dispute had occurred between Kaloke and a man claiming to be the owner of the residence where the incident occurred.

Sergeant Luis Nieves of the Alaska State Troopers says the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

“At this point we have a individual who is claiming that he’s the homeowner and that he is claiming self-defense in that incident. At this point we are continuing to investigate this situation as a homicide and to determine the validity of the claim of self-defense.”

Troopers report that alcohol was a factor in the incident. Next of kin have been notified.
