King Cove vows to keep pushing for road to Cold Bay

AEB

Community says there have been 16 emergency medevacs, including six by the US Coast Guard, over the past year.

It has been a year since Interior Secretary Sally Jewell rejected a proposed land swap that would’ve allowed a road built from King Cove to Cold Bay.

The proposed single-lane gravel road would cross what detractors say is an especially unique portion of wilderness within the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge. King Cove residents say the road is a life and death issue, as it will connect them safely to the all-weather airport in Cold Bay.

As KDLG's Dave Bendinger reports, they're not giving up the fight.
