House District 37 race heats up

Incumbent Bryce Edgmon (D) and newcomer William Weatherby (R) each say they can represent HD 37 best as state wrestles with huge deficit and tough choices.

It’s less than 3 weeks till the election. Voters will have much to think about as they head to the polls, but what about the down ballot races? From Anvik to Akutan, Nikolai to Naknek to Nikolski, Alaska House District 37 covers an enormous expanse of territory in Southwest Alaska. This November its roughly 10,000 registered voters will pick a representative to send to Juneau. Newcomer William Weatherby, a Republican from King Salmon, says he can bring fresh perspective to the state’s challenges. But incumbent Democrat Bryce Edgmon from Dillingham says right now it’s more crucial than ever to send an experienced legislator to protect the district's interests. KDLG's Dave Bendinger sat down for coffee with each, and has these profiles.
