Floating dock in Dillingham small boat harbor damaged in Sunday's storm

Avery Lill/KDLG

Gusts over 55 miles per hour on Sunday blew down trees and made for rough waters in the Dillingham small boat harbor.

Gusty wind and high surf on Sunday damaged the floating dock at the Dillingham boat harbor.

One piece of the floating dock filled with water and sank. One of the metal arms that holds floating docks in place sustained significant damage and fell off its piling.

The dock is still usable, and there are no plans in place to fix the dock this season. The City of Dillingham will likely pull the floating dock out of the water at the end of August.

Gusts on Sunday reached over 55 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. A special weather statement from NWS today warns that high surf and coastal erosion are possible along Bristol Bay Coasts through Monday night.
