DNR Commissioner Dan Sullivan Stepping Down Later This Month

Governor Parnell's office

The Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources is resigning his post effective September 24th. Dan Sullivan was appointed Commissioner in December of 2012 after serving as Alaska’s Attorney General for about a year and a half. Sullivan’s resignation was accepted by Alaska Governor Sean Parnell. In a written statement Parnell said Sullivan played a key role in getting big things done to strengthen Alaska’s economy and families. In his resignation letter Sullivan noted that he was proud to play a role in addressing several issues including resolving Point Thomson and jump staring the multi-billion dollar North Slope development. Sullivan remarked that as he explores new opportunities and challenges in the next phase of his life he intends to seek ways to continue to serve Alaskans. Sullivan’s resignation comes amid speculation that he is considering a run for the U.S. Senate.
