Casey Burt's Body Recovered from the Ugashik River

The body of 17-year old Casey Burt has been recovered from the Uagshik River. He went missing after the skiff he was in overturned near Pilot Point on Sunday. Burt’s body was recovered Tuesday night around 6:20 during a low tide by State Troopers with assistance from the Village Public Safety Officer in Pilot Point. His body was located about half a mile upriver from where the skiff originally overturned. The incident Sunday also claimed the life of 38-year old Charles Anthony Voss from Sterling, Alaska. The other 2 fishermen in the skiff survived the incident by climbing onto the overturned skiff. They were rescued by fellow commercial fishermen. Casey Burt’s body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage.
