A professional herder has been hired to teach the craft to others as Port Heiden takes possession of dozens of reindeer to begin a new herd.

Coming up this week, we’ll check in on the fishing action at Ekuk Beach, plus Senator Lisa Murkowski tells us about her renewed effort in Congress to pave the way for a road from King Cove to Cold Bay, We’ll get an update on the effort to reestablish a reindeer herd in the village of Port Heiden. Plus a Dillingham woman shares her story of recovery after being arrested and sentenced to jail for bringing heroin and meth into the community two years ago.
