Brenda Akelkok Chosen to Head the Bristol Bay Housing Authority

A local Dillingham women has been chosen as the new head of the Bristol Bay Housing Authority. Last month the commissioners of the Authority named Brenda Akelkok the Executive Director Designee. She is replacing Dave McClure who’s led the Bristol Bay Housing Authority for the last 21 years. BBHA confirms that Akelkok was chosen from a field of 30 candidates. Akelkok is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and she served as a grant writer for the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation from 2005 to 2012. In 2012 Akelkok was named grant manager for BBAHC. Before joining the Corporation Akelkok was the director of Planning and Program Development for the Bristol Bay Native Association from 1994 to 2005. Brenda Akelkok is a former member of the Dillingham City Council. She takes over as the new Executive Director of the Bristol Bay Housing Authority on April 1st.
