Adjusting Pupil Transportation Funding in Alaska to Inflation

Alaska House Majority Organization

A piece of legislation was introduced on Friday that could result in some additional money for local school districts in Alaska. House Bill 120 was put forward by Representative Lynn Gattis from Wasilla. She's the chair of the Education Committee in the State House. Gattis wants pupil transportation funding to be adjusted every year to account for inflation. She's proposing that the adjustment be tied to the Consumer Price Index for Anchorage. House Bill 120 has referred to the Education and Finance Committee's. So far no hearings are scheduled and no fiscal notes have been prepared.
